Two more weeks of early bird registration for the EGI Technical Forum!
The EGI Technical Forum 2010 will be the first major event within the EGI community and will bring together European distributed computing projects and their collaborators in academia and businesses, from around Europe and around the world.

SIENA, the Standards and Interoperability for eInfrastructure Implementation Initiative (2010- 2012), which is currently under negotiation with the European Commission, is working closely with these DCI projects, the European Commission, Standardisation Development Organisations, European Union policy groups and technology innovators from enterprise and research to gain an in-depth understanding of how distributed computing technology is being developed in this context.

Open source software battle heats up
Big announcements at the recently concluded Computex 2010 showed that open source software market competition will be tighter: Intel was all-out praises for MeeGo while ARM disclosed tying up with six enterprises to enter Linux-based open source software camp. ARM, Freescale, IBM, Samsung, ST-Ericsson and Texas Instruments announced the establishment of Linaro at Computex. This is an organization of chip industry players, aiming mainly to promote the development of Linux-based products, and its first forecasted activity is to launch the first version of software and tools in November 2010.
